Our Lady
Our Name Sake
Notre Dame “Our Lady” is in memorial to the mother of Jesus, Mary. “The Church’s devotion to the Blessed Virgin is intrinsic to Christian worship. The Church rightly honours the Blessed Virgin. From the most ancient times the Blessed Virgin has been honored with the title of “Mother of God”, to whose protection the faithful fly in all their dangers and needs” (Catechism of the Catholic Church #971).
At Notre Dame School we honour our Blessed Mother several times a year through October (Month of the Rosary), celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Dec. 12), and in May (Month of Mary).
The title Our Lady of Guadalupe is given to Mary for the Americas as the Patroness of the Americas.
